The QRS team has recently grown to include an SDC and a dedicated QA tester. As a result, we are working through the best way to divide up the non-development work for our team. Things like testing, requirements gathering and analysis, business approvals and the like.
As luck would have it, Johanna Rothman posted just yesterday about the typical division of work between the roles of Product Manager, Product Owner, and Business Analyst.
She explains that, “Each team needs the strategic lifetime-of-the-product view; the tactical view for the next iteration or so and the knowledge of how to re-rank the backlog; and the ability to translate stories into small valuable chunks.”

Thanks to a suggestion from Tom Wessel, we’re also planning to create a RACI matrix to help us sort through the different roles and their responsibilities to the team.
